Contact details you give us (name, email, phone number); the documents and files you upload or send for translation, which may include personal identifiers such as ID or passport numbers, dates of birth, marital status, or โ in the case of police clearance certificates โ criminal record data; any other information you include in a message, quote request, or email; questions and answers exchanged with the on-site chat assistant, kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically; and basic technical data (such as IP address and browser type) generated automatically when you browse this website.
Directly from you, when you contact us on Telegram, by email, or through a form on this site, or when you upload or send us documents. Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies used by this website to remember basic preferences and understand how the site is used.
To review your documents and provide a quote (a pre-contractual step taken at your request); to perform the translation or interpretation service you order (performance of a contract); to communicate with you about your order; and to keep the accounting and other records that Montenegrin law requires of a registered business and of sworn court translators (a legal obligation). We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
Documents you send us are handled under the confidentiality obligations that bind sworn court translators under the Law on Court Translators. Only the staff and translators working on your order can access your files, they are stored securely, and they are kept only for as long as needed to complete your order and meet our legal retention duties, described below.
We do not sell your personal data. It may be shared with the certified translator, interpreter, or notary directly handling your order; with our email, hosting, or IT service providers, strictly as needed to run this website and deliver your service; with Telegram, when a chat assistant conversation looks like it needs a human follow-up and is automatically forwarded there so we can respond faster; with a bank, if you've asked us to hand-deliver banking documents on your behalf; or with a public authority, where the law requires it.
Where a service provider we use (for example, an email or hosting provider) is located outside Montenegro or the EEA, we only work with providers that offer an adequate level of protection for your data, such as providers based in the EU or ones bound by standard contractual clauses.
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected for. Order records and related documents are generally kept for the period required by Montenegrin accounting, tax, and sworn-translator record-keeping rules, after which they are deleted or securely destroyed. Enquiries that don't lead to an order are kept only for a reasonable period to allow follow-up, then deleted. Conversations with the on-site chat assistant are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically โ there is no long-term storage or tracking tied to a visitor's identity.
Under Montenegro's Law on Personal Data Protection and, where applicable, the EU GDPR, you can ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or provide it to you in a portable format, and you can object to certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, email info@lawtranslations.me. You can also lodge a complaint with Montenegro's Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information (AZLP).
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures โ including restricted access to documents and secure storage โ to protect your data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep risk to a minimum.
Our services are directed at adults arranging their own or their family's documents. We don't knowingly collect data from children beyond what may appear incidentally in a document, such as a child's name on a birth certificate submitted by a parent or guardian.
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect a change in our practices or in the law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
Questions about this policy or how we handle your data can be sent to info@lawtranslations.me or +382 69 429 219.
